So Tonight I went to see SKYFALL, the latest 007 movie that had a whole bunch of nostalgia for the 007 fans. In this installment, James Bond has a great reason for why he’s on this mission, and then a big question surrounding what his motivations mean.
I won’t give any spoilers, but I can tell you that Javier Bardem, as the bad guy might as well be Dr. Evil because he’s kinda ridiculous. Yet…. it’s ok because he’s insane. Somehow, his whole “I’m a gay bad guy” is acceptable, even though a little silly.
The whole “007 for the 2010′s”, with less “gadget-ty” gadgets, and all of this “I’m getting old now” themes work, since it’s nice to acknowledge the traditions, yet kinda wink to the audience about them.
So, did I enjoy it? I guess so… I actually didn’t love it as much as a lot of people seem to, but it was pretty cool. I am a bug stickler for storyline, and there were some things that really make no sense, some silly “booby traps” and things like that, and the bad guy’s plan is really over complicated, but hey- what did I expect, right?
I’m glad I went to the theatre to see it, buut had I just seen it on the small screen, I would have been fine with that.
